The Kingdom Jewel

At the end of the waltz as the music began to slow down, Henrik lowered Cascadia into such a low dip that her long hair brushed against the marble floor. The whole room was filled with applause for the royal couple but Henrik was focused on the lady below him, his eyes staring into brown irises that held the slightest flickers of flames. He leaned in close to her, his lips brushing against hers. “Not any jewel in the entire kingdom could compare to you, my love.”

With that compliment, Cascadia’s eyes started to sparkle with happiness and her lips broke out into a smile which lightened up Henrik’s heart.

Week 40: Secrets

Otome waited at the pavilion, the moon shining on her form. She played with her long red hair as she waited, shifting from one foot to another foot, and she hummed a little tune to herself. The tune was something that her partner had composed for their latest project, and Otome had it stuck in her head for a long time. She was supposed to be sleeping right now, so that she could wake up early the next day and write lyrics for the composition, but…she couldn’t right now. Not until she met with him. Read more

Week 39: Ice Dancer

The sound of skates on ice came to a halt as Eva struck her final pose of the short program that she had been practising, the music ending with its final notes. Her ragged breaths echoed throughout the silent ice rink as she stood there, face flushed from both the cold and the intensity of her performance. Eva relaxed her body as she caught her breath back, and looked over at the CD player settled comfortable on the railing. After staring at it for a while, she skated over to the CD player and hit the back button. Once more, she thought to herself, before she glided back over to the middle of the ice rink and got into position. Read more

Week 34: A Story about Loneliness

Lorelei sighed as she finally uploaded the latest oneshot to her blog on WordPress. She slid out from under the desk on her office chair and stretched, cracking her neck from one side to the other. Lorelei had been sat at her desk for hours, trying to perfect the story that she had been writing up, and had finally finished. Her mum yelled at her every couple of hours, saying something about how she should get her butt off the chair and go and do something more productive. Lorelei didn’t understand; at least she wasn’t one of those kids who was out there smoking drugs or something. Read more

Week 36: A Bunny’s Perspective

I’ve watched my mistress every day, and know all about her. I’ve seen her smile, laugh, cry, get angry, everything. I’ve been her loyal friend from the very beginning, and when she took me with her to that music academy she’s always talking about with her friends, I felt so excited. Whatever emotion she felt, I felt as well.

Of course, I knew about the pain that Mistress had gone through as well. Read more

Week 30: Mirror, Mirror

Aurelia followed the woman into the back room of the antique shop, clutching the strap of her messenger bag tightly.  Her gaze drifted to her surroundings as she walked. Shelves lined the walls, clocks, statues, lamps and jewellery boxes settled atop them. Carpets and curtains hung from hooks on the ceiling, and old leather armchairs were littered around the area. Aurelia drifted her fingertips along the arm of one armchair; the leather was smooth and soft. She walked past mannequins with the most vintage dresses and coats, and she fingered the soft, velvet material as she walked past. Having taken in her surroundings completely, she returned her gaze to the woman in front of her. Read more
