Otome waited at the pavilion, the moon shining on her form. She played with her long red hair as she waited, shifting from one foot to another foot, and she hummed a little tune to herself. The tune was something that her partner had composed for their latest project, and Otome had it stuck in her head for a long time. She was supposed to be sleeping right now, so that she could wake up early the next day and write lyrics for the composition, but…she couldn’t right now. Not until she met with him.

She looked around her surroundings once more, just in case. If any of the teachers or even the students found her out here with him, they would be in so much trouble. What they were doing was against the rules of Saotome Academy, so their meetings had to be kept in secret. They met whenever they could, and it was usually at night. Meeting during the day was too dangerous, since there were so many other people around, so they met at night. Otome placed a hand on her chest when she realised that no one was around. Her heart always beat extremely fast whenever they scheduled meetings like this, and whether it was a feeling of fear or thrill, she wasn’t sure. But that feeling always disappeared when he came to her.

Otome nearly let out a shriek when she felt herself being embraced from behind. A voice spoke quietly in her ear, “Hush. It’s only me.”

Her body relaxed when she heard the voice, and she turned her head to look into his dark blue eyes. “Tokiya.”

Tokiya hugged her tightly, resting his chin on her shoulder. Otome rested her hand on his linked hands across her stomach, tilting her head against his gently. Romance was forbidden at Saotome Academy, and these two were breaking just that rule. Otome was the one who had confessed to Tokiya about her feelings for him, knowing that she was putting herself in a dangerous situation of expulsion and rejection. She knew that Tokiya was someone who wasn’t looking for love, and it was something that he thought of as a distraction. So when he replied to her confession that he was attracted to her too, it threw Otome completely under the train. She didn’t know what to do with this information, and it took her a while to process before she suggested that they try the secret relationship out to see if it could work. Tokiya agreed with caution, not wanting to risk his music career, but also not wanting to deny a relationship with someone he liked.

And from the way that Tokiya’s arms were wound tightly around her waist and his slow breaths against her ear, Otome was feeling optimistic.

Week 40: A story about a secret.

…I wanted this to feel more forbidden, but it didn’t turn out the way I wanted it to *sigh*
